Tiled roof with a white dormer and zinc flashings

Zinc and lead work

Most leaks in tiled roofs are not in the tiles, but in the joints. Around the chimney, at a dormer or in a valley gutter. That’s where we use lead and zinc, soldered by hand.

Gutters

A zinc gutter lasts thirty years if it has the right fall. We replace it in sections or all at once, and solder the seams on site.

Lead

Lead flashings around a chimney or roof window need to be able to move with the heat. Fixed too tightly, the lead cracks after a few winters. We lay it with the right overlap and clips.

What customers ask about zinc and lead work

01Why zinc and not a plastic gutter?

Zinc lasts two to three times longer and suits most houses in North Holland. Plastic is cheaper, but goes brittle in the sun.
